The top fashion design prize of the 27th Hyères International Fashion Festival, held in the south of France (April 27-30), was awarded Sunday to a trio of Finnish designers: Elina Laitinen, Siiri Raasakka and Tiia Siren. After the ten finalist designers presented their collections in a runway show, the international jury, headed by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, chose to single out the menswear collection from the young Finnish team for its use of color and futuristic styling.
The festival provided the opportunity for ten upcoming designers to present their collections to professionals from the fashion industry as well as to members of the public.
While the most prestigious prize of the festival, worth ?15,000, was handed out to the three young Finnish designers, Canadian designer Steven Tai won the inaugural Chloé prize (also worth ?15,000) for his womenswear collection, while Ragne Kikas of Estonia took the Première Vision prize (worth ?10,000) and the public vote for his womenswear collection.
The Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival is an occasion for rising talents in these two areas to present their work and has in the past awarded designers such as Viktor & Rolf and Felipe Oliveira Baptista.

Half of Britons say monarchy more likeable-survey
LONDON (Reuters) - Half of Britons think the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton has made the monarchy more likeable, a new online survey showed on Friday.
Just two days before the April 29th first wedding anniversary of the now named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a poll of more than 2,000 Britons by Opinium Research revealed that one in 10 have forgotten their own anniversaries, but three in five believe the royal marriage has boosted national morale.
The poll also showed that almost double the number of men (14 percent) admitted to forgetting their anniversary compared to women (8 percent) and that Brits, on average, are expecting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to announce their first baby by the beginning of 2013.
'Will and Kate are a national treasure so it's no surprise to find Brits have embraced them and their wedding boosted the nation's morale,' Opinium Managing Director of Research James Endersby said in a statement.
Kate Middleton's reputation and status have rocketed over the past year as three in five Brits (59 percent) believe she has become a role model for British women while just over half (55 percent) think she is now a British icon worldwide.
'As we have found men are more likely to forget their anniversary than women, we hope Prince William remembers to do something special,' Endersby said. 'And if the nation is right, by their next anniversary, we may be expecting a royal baby.'

Royals riding high in media a year after wedding
LONDON (Reuters) - One year after some two billion people around the world tuned into watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton, the global media remain captivated with the lives of the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The wedding fervour, which saw a million Britons cram the streets of London on April 29, 2011 to catch a glimpse of the future king and queen, has inevitably faded with the memory of the fairytale dresses, uniforms and horse-drawn carriages.
But royal watchers and many members of the public believe the couple have boosted the monarchy's popularity and offer an escape for a nation beset by recession, unemployment and financial insecurity.
Even if, as naysayers argue, the duke and duchess are merely celebrities whose wealth and style are out of reach of all but a few, their popularity reaches far beyond Britain.
Media outlets in Britain, the United States, Canada and beyond remain enamoured with Catherine and second-in-line-to-the-throne Prince William.
'I think it's been a complete triumph for them,' Claudia Joseph, a biographer of Catherine, said of their first year of married life.
Where the couple, and their PR team, have been particularly successful, commentators say, is in projecting the image of a relatively ordinary pair, albeit it one that has access to palaces, castles, glitzy red carpets and the odd butler or two.
While William has been working as a rescue helicopter pilot in north Wales, they have stayed in a rented home on the island of Anglesey, a move that has helped them build the 'couple-next-door' idea.
'William drives himself to work, enjoys a pint in the local pub, Kate shops at the local supermarket, cooks for her husband, they go for walks, go to cinema, watch television,' Joseph said.
MEDIA MESMERISED
Some newspapers have followed the royal couple with a commitment bordering on obsession.
Barely a day goes by when either the Daily Mail or Daily Telegraph -- as right-leaning publications natural allies to the monarchy -- do not splash images of them over their pages, usually accompanied with gushing prose.
On Friday, the Daily Mail featured photographs of the duke and duchess attending an official function on its front page and again on page 3 and 27.
The Telegraph devotes its main front page picture to Prince William holding a baby and page 4 to a story of how Queen Elizabeth and father-in-law Prince Charles get on well with Catherine.
Often stories are about official engagements, including visits to charities, trips abroad and movie premieres.
They also focus on fashion, with the duchess seen as a key arbiter of taste whose choice of clothes and accessories sends items flying off the high street shelves.
'Catherine's style spans the catwalk and the high street and she is a great champion of British brands, making her an excellent style ambassador,' said Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council.
In one of the more bizarre examples, pictures of the duchess playing field hockey led to a surge in interest in the sport -- one online retailer saw sales of hockey sticks surge 238 percent in the days after she paid a visit to the British Olympic team.
Some articles have ventured into pure speculation.
'Kate Middleton's sexy underwear secret revealed!' ran a headline on the website of celebrity Now magazine, followed by an unsourced story based on conjecture.
If and when the couple have a baby is currently top of the 'guessing games', followed by speculation over whether the duchess has an eating disorder -- a sensitive topic given that William's late mother Princess Diana, to whom Kate is inevitably compared, suffered from bulimia.
Coverage has extended to Kate's sister Pippa, who also shot to global fame as a result of her appearance as maid of honour at the royal wedding.
A recent trip to party in Paris may have caused royal blushes after Pippa was criticised for being photographed in a car with a man wielding what looked like a pistol at pursuing paparazzi.
Generally, however, the press has been overwhelmingly favourable, although anti-monarchist group Republic counters that support for the royals is weaker than headlines suggest.
It said this week that polls showed a fall in the number of people believing Britain would be worse off without the royals -- down to 51 percent from 63 percent this time last year.
Only 41 percent said they believed the monarchy was a unifying force, with 32 percent saying it made no difference.
'These polls put the lie to the claim that the monarchy is enjoying a resurgence of popularity,' Republic's chief executive Graham Smith said. 'No poll over the past 18 months has shown any increase in support for the monarchy.'
FEEL-GOOD FACTOR
However, royal officials believe that austere economic times have added to the monarchy's allure.
'Continuity and stability has strength in its own rights while everything else is in a state of flux,' one senior royal aide told Reuters on condition of anonymity, due to the palace's demands for discretion in dealing with the press.
'One of its roles in a way is to provide a sort of ballast to the nation, a solid foundation, and it probably comes to the fore more obviously in difficult times.
'You saw that with the royal wedding last year. People realised they could have a celebration. It was something that people turned to very naturally.'
The queen may well be grateful to her grandchildren for casting the royals in a positive light, following a series of scandals including popular Diana's death in a Paris car crash aged 36.
The 86-year-old monarch is gearing up for a weekend of national celebrations in early June to mark her 60th year on the throne, a spectacular event expected to draw more huge crowds to London and media attention from around the world.
In sharp contrast to their very public wedding, the duke and duchess will be avoiding the limelight on their anniversary on Sunday at a long-planned event with friends at an undisclosed location in Britain, their spokesman said.

Fairytale fashion: Louboutin creating Cinderella-inspired glass slipper
The fashion world's love affair with fairy tales continues with Christian Louboutin designing a pair of shoes inspired by Disney's Cinderella.
The animated picture is being rereleased on Blu-ray and DVD this fall, and in honor of this the French shoe guru will offer an interpretation of the iconic "glass slipper" worn by the movie's namesake.
Fashionistas will have to wait until the summertime to see the shoe, although it is said the creator, famous for his red-soled talons, will put his own "magic touch" on the famous footwear.
"I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world," Louboutin is quoted as saying in WWD April 26.
This won't be the first time the Brothers Grimm fairytale shoe has provides a source of inspiration.
Maison Martin Margiela created its own interpretation of the iconic glass slippers a few years back for a limited edition range.
Meanwhile, Snow White also looks set to be a major source for fashion trends this year thanks to the release of a new Hollywood interpretation of the tale, Snow White and the Huntsman. The film has already inspired a Benefit Cosmetics beauty kit allowing fans to recreate protagonist Kristen Stewart's pale beauty, and Charlize Theron's Evil Queen character boasts an extensive haute couture wardrobe.
Fairy tales were also the theme for the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which was described as "spring-like and magical" by creative director Marc Jacobs.

After Gaultier for Madonna, Armani unveils wacky Gaga tour creations
Lady Gaga and Madonna's outfits for their respective upcoming tours look set to rival one another in the high fashion stakes, the latter has Jean Paul Gaultier on hand, while Giorgio Armani has just revealed sketches of his creations for Gaga.
On April 19 Armani unveiled a string of predictably wild custom-made outfits for the songstress, including lashings of luminous PVC, a keyboard head piece and, naturally, spiky shoulders.
'Collaborating with Lady Gaga is always an exciting experience for me. I admire the way she uses fashion as a scenic element and as a means to build a character,' said Armani, who also created looks for her 2010 Monster Ball tour.
'She is an artist of many talents and great intelligence. Creating stage costumes for her is a stimulating and creative exercise.'
While Gaga's Born This Way Ball kicks off April 27 in Seoul, Korea, Madonna starts the MDNA Tour May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The songstress confirmed that her long-time collaborator Gaultier, who came up with the iconic pieces of her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, is helping out with costumes.
"I worship and adore [Jean Paul Gaultier]. He's creating one of my costumes, and kind of godfathering the costumes for a section of my show, with all my dancers," the singer recently told WWD.
"I'm really happy he's doing it, because he's such a genius. And I'll probably wear something that Riccardo [Tisci] from Givenchy makes. But the rest of it is going to be what my costume designer Arianne Phillips creates with me."

Voting open for Vimeo Awards, videos from labels including Mulberry and ksubi in the running
Videos from brands including Mulberry and ksubi are among the nominees for the upcoming Vimeo Awards, which has introduced a fashion category for 2012 and welcomes Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti on the judging panel.
Launched in 2010, the Vimeo Awards aim to honor the world's best videos, and, thanks to the community vote, video enthusiasts from across the globe can also have their say at www.vimeoawards.com until April 30.
The fashion category has shortlisted 12 videos which showcase a "fashion, beauty collection or trend with moving image", including the Amanda Boyle-directed Mulberry short film 'Skirt,' which tells the story of a man and woman's relationship through their possessions and interaction with one another. New York Spring 2013 bridal trends: vintage Hollywood, bold color and cropped tops
With Barcelona Bridal Week kicking off next month, wedding fever is officially in the air and the recent bridal presentations in New York showcased what the most stylish brides will be wearing while walking down the aisle next year -- with influences ranging from classical Spanish to vintage Hollywood.
Some of the more contemporary takes on bridal came from the likes of Amsale, who showcased short and flirty hemlines, while Rafael Cennamo referenced the current trend for dropped hems by teaming short skirts with lengthy trains.
The catwalk trend for peplums has also translated for wedding gowns, with peplum skirts adding interest at Angel Sanchez and Amsale.
Going for a more traditional aesthetic were labels such as Jenny Packham, whose collection was inspired by Hollywood icons such as Vivien Leigh and Bette Davis, and the vintage glamour of 1930s Paris with lashings of silk chiffon, draped satins and French lace.
Lace was also big at Romona Keveza, Temperley London and Kenneth Pool, while traditional Spanish-style lace gowns with demure high necks were seen at Oscar de la Renta. The latter also offered a more modern wedding style in the form of cropped tops, floral patterns and shorter skirts.
Also earning a prize for innovation was Reem Acra, whose runway finale saw a model remove her tiered tulle skirts to reveal a cropped tube dress.
And while in terms of color the usual delicate tones such as ivory, champagne and platinum ruled the runways, designers experimented with less conventional shades.
Last year Vera Wang famously showcased gowns in midnight blacks, while for 2013 she presented dresses in scarlet, crimson, vermillion and dahlia. "It's a celebration of love," explained the designer. Red frocks appeared on the runways at Romona Keveza and Oscar de la Renta too, while the latter also showcased dresses in cool blues.

Watch out for live-pinning: de la Renta welcomes fans to bridal show via Pinterest
Oscar de la Renta is continuing to lead the pack when it comes to social media innovations and Monday the label live-pinned its Spring 2013 bridal show via Pinterest, offering fans an insight into the preparations and final presentation.
The brand is particularly taken with the online bulletin board, having set up a digital inspiration board at http://theboard.oscardelarenta.com/# back in February; where fans can upload images and videos to appear on a screen in de la Renta's studio and help inspire the creator's next Resort line.
The latest Pinterest project in honor of the bridal show can be seen at http://pinterest.com/oscarprgirl/bridal/, and was in fact a last-minute idea, Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta told Mashable.
"Pinterest has got a lot of momentum right now, and we want to be involved with people [and platforms] who have momentum," said Bolen.
Constantly looking to innovate in social media, Bolen added that the company is currently collaborating on a project with rising site Fancy, which lets users organize images from around the web into "lists" and allows them to make purchases, therefore offering more of a ecommerce-oriented model than Pinterest.
Fashion brands that can currently be seen on Fancy include Bottega Veneta, American Apparel and Cheap Monday.

Shanghai Fashion Week gives the world a look at creativity, China-style
The fashion world has had its eyes fixed firmly on Shanghai over the past week, hoping to catch a glimpse of what China's most creative minds picture the world wearing over the next 12 months.
China's rising band of designers are slowly forcing their way onto the global stage and Shanghai Fashion Week certainly had its share of glitz and glamour.
As the event tries to hold its head higher than the rival China International Fashion Week, held last month in the capital Beijing, a stream of international heavyweights were brought in to strut their stuff on the catwalks set up within Shanghai's ultra-cool Xintiandi district.
The "Pearl of the Orient" (as Shanghai was known back in the decadent days of the 1920s and 30s) played host to the likes of Italy's Sforza and Mazzi and the hip styles of France's agnès b - a label that has a huge following in Asia. Dior was also in town, presenting China with its 2012 spring couture show.
But it seems the 18th edition of Shanghai's fashion extravaganza - which finished Tuesday - was mostly about promoting the locals, with a collection of Chinese designers hogging the limelight - and all the headlines.
International fashion industry tracker Nadine Kam (http://fashiontribe.staradvertiserblogs.com) was particularly taken by the creations on show from the studio of China's Zix Guan, who is, as it turns out, a big fan of Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie, the woman who inspired Guan's collection "Killers."
Kam says the designer told her the collection was all about power, something Jolie possesses in spades. "Women in this country need to have power. In China, a lot of girls, women just live for their family, their love, their children; they never live for themselves. Women need power, but they still need to be sexy. This collection uses leather to make a woman feel powerful, with lace to make women more sexy," was the designer's explanation.

Once a supermodel, always a supermodel: 90s supers still riding high
This week Chanel unveiled its Spring/Summer 2012 Eyewear campaign starring Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer showed her age-defying looks in the Guess 30th anniversary shots and not a day goes by without a campaign release starring Kate Mossopez, Aisha Tyler, Chelsie . A renaissance of the 1990s supermodel is undoubtedly in full swing, but what about the names we've stopped seeing splashed across the pages of our monthly glossies?
One of the most lauded works in the current Herb Ritts exhibition at the J.Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles is the iconic 1989 black and white group shot of Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour and Tatjana Patitz.
Pick up any fashion magazine and you will soon stumble across the first three -- Crawford fronts the current issue of French Revue de Modes, Campbell sizzles in the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2012 campaign, and Turlington stars in the Louis Vuitton high jewelry adsiddy excitement included . The other two aren't faring badly either -- Seymour proved she can still work the camera for a Horst Diekgerdes shoot for Elle US last September, while Patitz too has continued to model, fronting campaigns for the likes of Shiseidoyshortcuts' id='lw_13342. The latter's personal life has also been the subject of tabloid fodder since the announcement of Seal and Heidi Klum's divorce (she's an ex of the musician)o reprises his Iron Man role i.
Other stars of the 1990s continuing to charm the fashion world include Eva Herzigova and Kristen McMenamy, while Venezuelan model Patricia Velásquez, who appeared in several issues of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue as well as campaigns for Chanel is now better known as a TV star -- appearing in shows such as Ugly Betty and most recently business tycoon Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice.
1990s supers continuing to juggle modeling with new pastures include Helena Christensen and Milla Jovovichin-tight leather catsuits to play her. While the latter is best known as a Hollywood actress these days, she can be seen in the Spring/Summer 2012 campaign from Italian separates label Marella.
As one of the stars of Duran Duran's 'Girl Panic' music video last year alongside Campbell, Crawford, Herzigova, and Yasmin Le Bon, Christensen also designed and modeled three pieces for lingerie brand Triumph's Spring/Summer 2012 range -- proving her body is still in as good a shape as in her Victoria's Secret Angel days/span, the character who turned . The Dane primarily focuses on photography today though, and has been helping discover fashion faces of the future via the Crystallized Swarovski Unsigned Model Search -- she shot the competition winners Freya McHugh and Reece Sanders for the Spring/Summer 2012 Swarovski Crystallized campaign.
'I don't feel the industry has changed: everyone else seems to think it has, but it still feels the same to me,' she was quoted as saying earlier this year.

Prada's New Shoes Are Hot Rods for Feet
Shoes can propel any look from boring to bold, especially when they have flames shooting off of the back.
Prada's latest shoes are inspired from the American tail fin era of the 1950s, when bright colors and souped up cars were all the rage.
The flames, shooting out the back of the shoes, resemble the tailpipe of a Cadillac. The bold design of the shoes mimics the chrome metal work of the car. The shoes, which range in price from $900 to $1,500, are quickly selling out of stores. For those hoping to snag a pair, they can find them online in most sizes.
SLIDESHOW: Prada's Hot Rod Shoes Collection
'Women and Cars' is the theme for Miuccia Prada's latest spring/summer 2012 collection featuring the shoes and other vintage-inspired clothing. The campaign images were shot by Steven Meisel, featuring the models atop vintage cars set at a 50's-style American gas station.

Editor-in-chief of Vogue.fr Jennifer Neyt confirmed to The Cut April 10 that as of Monday there will be a French and British flag on the navigation bar so readers can access translated versions of the French content.
The news follows Vogue.fr's tweet last week reading "France gave the US the Statue of Liberty, now we are taking Vogue.fr to the wider world..the Fall/Winter 2012 span class='yshortcuts'. get ready for #VogueParisinEnglish."
The multilingual announcement comes just as former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld announced that her upcoming style publication CR Fashion Book, launching internationally this September, will be in English except when that isn't the native language of the contributor (in such cases there will be translations in the back).
In other Vogue news, there has been a buzz on style forum The Fashion Spot that Vogue Thailand could be a possibility for 2013n that hosted the Fall/Winter 2012 span cla. While there are already editions of Harper's Bazaar and Elle in the country, a Fashion Spot forum member translated an article from a Thai newspaper reporting a Vogue Thailand project is in the works.
Since launching in the US in the late 19th century, the publication has been launched in nearly 20 destinations across the globe, with the most recent launch being Vogue Netherlands which hit newsstands last month.

A journey through Dior: from the New Look to a 'very modern' direction

Raf Simons takes over for Galliano at Dior
PARIS (Reuters) - Belgian designer Raf Simons is taking over as artistic director at Christian Dior, the Paris fashion house announced on Tuesday, ending months of speculation over who would replace his disgraced predecessor, John Galliano.
The top design post at Dior, the parent company of luxury conglomerate LVMH , has been vacant for more than a year after Galliano was fired after a drunken anti-Semitic outburst in Paris.
Simons, who previously worked for fashion house Jil Sander and is known for his understated looks, was long considered an unlikely candidate as Dior conducted exploratory talks with more high-profile rivals ranging from Marc Jacobs, head designer at Louis Vuitton, to Alber Elbaz of Lanvin.
In a statement, the 44-year-old Belgian paid homage to the history of Dior and said he would present his first Haute Couture collection for Dior in July 2012.
'It is with the utmost respect for its tremendous history, its unparalleled knowledge and craftsmanship that I am joining the magnificent house of Dior,' he said.
For the past year, Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano has faced constant questioning about succession for Galliano after his shock ouster from the brand last year, to which he always responded by saying Dior would take its time.
In the absence of Galliano - who apologized for his outburst in early 2011 and has yet to resurface in a new position - his former aide Bill Gaytten took over as Dior's artistic director and presented several pret-a-porter and Haute Couture collections.
But Gaytten's work came under criticism in fashion circles for lacking his predecessor's flair, and Dior never hid its intention of filling the top position with a designer of equal or greater stature to Galliano.
Simons developed a strong international reputation at Jil Sander, which is majority owned by the Prada Group, earning credit for a trend toward bright colors that permeated more modestly priced markets.
'I'm someone who takes responsibility,' Simons told the New York Times, which first reported his hiringitage, Charlotte Casiraghi has been. 'I'm not an isolated personn (December 3-5, 2011) where she . The more I connect to people, the more I have the feeling that things work.'

Actress Sienna Miller has divulged that her sister Savannah is working on a new fashion label, following the announcement earlier this year that the siblings had stepped down as co-creative directors of British label Twenty8Twelve.

China Fashion Weeks: Beijing 'catching up' with fashion capitals but Shanghai has the star factor
While Chinese actresses including Huo Siyan, Li Xiaolu and Lin Peng were some of the most snapped celebrities during last month's Paris shows, the recent Beijing Fashion Week's increasing attempts to compete with the fashion capitals are slowly paying off -- with more A-list stars, extravagant runway shows and exciting homegrown design talent preceding what is expected to be a star-studded Shanghai Fashion Week.
From classic red-carpet ready gowns at Eternal Color Xie Ping to S&M-themed get-up at She Guang Hu, China Fashion Week in Beijing showcased the country's emerging design talent from March 25 to April 1, with the likes of Guangzhou-based menswear creator Cabbeen taking the lead from the international fashion capitals and pulling out all the stops on runway décor.
While it may not yet compete with the extravagance of the spectacular steam train that hosted the Fall/Winter 2012 Louis Vuitton show in Paris, models at Cabbeen's presentation strutted down a shimmering white mountain-like runway that wouldn't have looked out of place at Paris or Milan.
"The biggest change is China's fashion designers are getting good at holding fabulous shows boots with a folded trim, or p. Some of the projects and high-tech equipment on the runway can catch up with those from A-list fashion labels in the world," China Daily fashion writer and regular Beijing Fashion Week attendee Darren Gan told Relaxnews.
While Gan acknowledges Beijing Fashion Week did pull in big Chinese celebrities such as actor Zhang Hanyu, who attended the presentation for menswear label Septwolves, Shanghai Fashion Week -- which kicks off April 11, will feature "many more stars." The city often dubbed the 'Paris of the East' will welcome an array of Shanghai's rising design talents such as Helen Lee, who has been recognized via international awards such as Belgium's Les Etoiles De La Mode and luxury brand La Vie, which blends traditional Chinese cultural elements with western cutting and design styleethan-inspired creations that p. International labels such as France's Agnès b., Britain's PPQ and Italian brands Massimo Sforza and Mazzi will also present their latest designs fur jackets in black or . Plus, while the Chinese fashion elite are in the city on April 12, Gucci will present its first Chinese fashion show on The Shanghai Bund, presenting its men and women's Fall/Winter 2012 collections.
But as European brands including Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Chanel lead in the Chinese marketplace, the French capital still remains the only unmissable fashion week, more so than Milan or New York.
"Louis Vuitton and Chanel are among the first labels coming to China, and fashionistas are keen on seeing their shows, so Paris Fashion Week is much more popular compared to the other three international fashion weeks," added Gan.
That said the fashion writer cited bridal and eveningwear designer Lan Yu ("China's Vera Wang") and Wang Yutao, who also presented his sports tailoring-inspired label Beautyberry in Berlin earlier this year among the most original presentations of Beijing, adding that buyers were attracted to the wearable designs by Cabbeen, Septwolves and Red Dragonfly, who presented Parisian-inspired menswear creations.

Cannes Film Festival: Who will wear Chopard's Monroe necklace?
Following the announcement that Marilyn Monroe is the icon of the upcoming 65th Cannes Film Festival, event sponsor Chopard has designed a one-off creation to be worn by one lucky celebrity -- whose identity won't be unveiled until May 16.
The late Hollywood actress famously sung about diamonds being a girl's best friend, so for this year a necklace of heart-shaped diamonds and briolettes designed by Chopard's co-president Caroline Scheufele will be revealed.
A spokesperson for the house told The Telegraph that it will be worn by 'a glamorous woman as she glides up the famous red-carpeted staircase.' The wearer will be revealed on day one of the film event, which runs May 16 - 27.
Stars to have impressed with their jewelry choices at last year's opening ceremony include actress Vahina Giocante in Jaeger-LeCoultre and model Karolina Kurkova in Cartier, although an obvious choice would be Michelle Williams, who portrayed Monroe in Oscar-nominated biopic My Week with Marilyn.
Meanwhile, Chopard is also planning an exhibition of 25 unpublished photographs of Monroe taken by US photographer Milton Greene during the festival, which is also set to tour worldwide with more details to be revealed at a later date.

Watch and buy: Kane, Givenchy and Preen feature in 'world's first shoppable music video'
Thanks to the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga, music videos are increasingly becoming a showcase for the latest fashion designs, and now online luxury retailer SSENSE has announced what it has dubbed the 'world's first shoppable music video.'
Starring rising Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, hip-hop duo FKi and Grammy- nominated producer Diplo, the video for 'I Think She Ready', debuting April 4, is viewable here.
The video was styled exclusively by SSENSE, a Montreal-based site which ships a variety of top men's and womenswear labels internationally.
The clip features Spring/Summer 2012 runway trends including bright, pop colors and animal prints, with designers featured including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Christopher Kane, Givenchy, and Preen.
To shop items seen in the clip, viewers need to click on an SSENSE hotspot in the video to access information on the styles showna boots and Chukka boots. They will then be presented with images of the products and a direct link to the item on ssense.com for purchase.
Music videos have become an increasingly important arena for the latest trends in recent years -- last year Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' video premiered Mugler's Fall 2011 collection before it hit the runway and Duran Duran's 'Girl Panic!' clip starred supermodels including Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford decked out in creations by the likes of Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana.

"Too Pretty" Columnist Samantha Brick Ridiculed
Going through life as a "tall, slim, blonde" woman is harder than it looks, according to British columnist Samantha Brick, who has become the focus of criticism and ridicule for writing that her life as a beautiful woman has been especially difficult.
Brick, 41, published a column in the Daily Mail on Tuesday entitled, "'There are downsides to looking this pretty': Why women hate me for being beautiful."
Brick bemoaned having to go through life as a beautiful woman, constantly receiving free champagne and wine from suitors, flirting with male bosses, and angering female friends and co-workers with her looks.
"While I'm no Elle Macpherson," Brick wrote, "I'm tall, slim, blonde and, so I'm often told, a good-looking womannot boast any high-class shoppin. I know how lucky I amass='yshortcuts' id='lw_133. But there are downsides to being pretty, the main one being that other women hate me for no other reason than my lovely looks."
By Wednesday morning, Brick had become the center of a Twitter campaign aiming to take her down a few notches for her perceived vanity will redress the imbalance,,, that is. Twitter users created the tongue-in-cheek hashtag #samanthabrickfacts to make jokes about Brick's alleged beauty.
"James Blunt wrote "You're beautiful" after he briefly caught sight of Samantha Brick in a crowded placeuo Kluk CGDT, The show runs through Sund. #samanthabrickfacts," Tony Cowards wrote on the site.
"Samantha Brick was originally cast in title role in Pretty Woman but Richard Gere vetoed it because she was too pretty," a user named Susan Cullen said Wednesday.
The Daily Mail's website, where the column was published, received more than 3,000 comments in response to Brick's essay, many of which called into question whether Brick was as pretty as she declaredn names showing off their. The column was accompanied by seven photos of the alleged British beauty, and anecdotes of occasions when Brick was hated by other women for her looks.
Brick, who was not able to reached for comment, recalls in the column posing next to a male friend for a photograph on his birthday, at the suggesting of the photographer.
"Another woman I barely knew pushed me out of the way, shouting it wasn't fair on all the other women if I was dominating the snap7_4'Frank Osodi/span and Bridget Awosi. I was devastated and burst into tears," she said.
Brick's article raised ire with many women for her early accusation in the column that any woman feeling angry at Brick was just jealous.
"If you're a woman reading this, I'd hazard that you've already formed your own opinion about me and it won't be very flatteringprice crisis), most recently in Nigeria, Hope. For while many doors have been opened (literally) as a result of my looks, just as many have been metaphorically slammed in my face and usually by my own sex," she writes.
Brick ponders her relationships with women, noting that she has never been asked to be a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding, often gets snubbed by female neighbors and acquaintances in social situations, and is targeted by married women who think Brick is trying to steal their husbands.
"I'm not smug and I'm no flirt, yet over the years I've been dropped by countless friends who felt threatened if I was merely in the presence of their other halves doom and gloom, from famine to bombings. If their partners dared to actually talk to me, a sudden chill would descend on the room," Brick said.
Many of those who commented disagreed with Brick's assessment, writing "Can we get a serving of humble pie with a side order of reality check over here please?" and "Oh get over yourself dearryan, McDonald said the number of desig. You are NOT THAT pretty, just average decorators have been flown in from Eu. : VERY average'yshortcuts' id='lw_1331143097_2'Africa/span in. I think you've lost female friends because you're a conceited delusional pratbroken,' Although the country does not boast any. Is this a belated April Fool's story DM?"
Brick, however, notes that she is now looking forward to the time when age will finally fade her beauty, so that she can "blend into the background" in her life.
"I can't wait for the wrinkles and the grey hair," she writes.
But following her inflammatory column, Brick's name and face may be more recognizable than ever before.
"April 3rd will now by known as international Samantha Brick day! #SamanthaBrickFacts," Twitter user @Rossildinio.
Added another: "Disney have renamed their film 'Samantha Brick & the Beast.' #samanthabrickfacts-class shopping malls, Nigerians are well k. "

H&M new chain name confirmed as "& other stories"
While H&M's new retail chain launch remains shrouded in secrecy, the Swedish retailer did confirm April 3 that the upcoming store will have the name "& other stories."
The high street brand announced last week that it will launch a new store chain in 2013, although at the time declined to divulge the shop's name.
Rumors since emerged that the store would be called "& other stories", a detail which H&M press officer Håcan Andersson confirmed to Relaxnewsown virtual museum last year, Meanwhi. However, the brand is keeping tight-lipped regarding further details of the launch.
"It is correct that H&M will launch a new chain in 2013 called & other stories, but this is all the available information we have as of today," explained Andersson.
The Swedish retailer already owns higher price point high street label COS, and is well known for its limited edition team-ups with big name designers -- most recently Marni.
In its latest three-month report, H&M hinted that its new project would be in a similar vein to COS, which currently has stores in European destinations such as France, the UK and Denmark.
"[T]he new chain of stores will be independent and complement the other offerings from the Group..." said H&M chief executive officer Karl-Johan Persson.

All-TIME 100 Fashion Icons: Olsen twins join Coco Chanel and Miuccia Prada
Child stars-turned-designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have made a list of the 100 most influential people in fashion, while big-name creatives including Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger and Roberto Cavalli have failed to feature.
The 25-year-old sibling duo join iconic creators such as Miuccia Prada, Coco Chanel and Christian Dior on the list, which was revealed by the US publication TIME April 2 ahead of its annual TIME 100 poll, which compiles the 100 most influential people in the world.
While the TIME 100 poll covers all realms, in anticipation of its release the publication has listed its All-TIME 100 Fashion Icons including designers, models, muses and photographers since 1923 (the year TIME magazine launched).
In the models category, 1990s supers including Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss make an appearance, as does Gisele Bündchen, who topped Forbes magazine's World's 10 Top-Earning Models back in May last year.
Absent from this section is Polish supermodel Anja Rubik, who was deemed the most 'in-demand' model by fashion industry internet forum The Fashion Spot in June last year based on factors such as number of magazine covers, Google searches and Twitter followers.
Supersize names in the muses category include Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol alongside Josephine Baker, while the photographers and editors/stylists sections prove more predictable, praising the likes of US Vogue editors Anna Wintour (1988- present) and Diana Vreeland (1963-71) and photographer Annie Leibovitz.
