Singer, TV presenter and fashion icon Cheryl Cole appeared at the Cannes Film Festival courtesy of beauty brand L'Oreal, who flew her out to the South of France for a red carpet appearance at the premiere of Michael Haneke's Amour.
Vogue magazine's UK branch was taken with Cheryl's outfit, asking whether the white Stephane Rolland creation with red ostrich feather train could be Cannes's most dramatic dress.
'Love the red of her dress merging with the red carpet!' said fashion designer Masaba Gupta, and Perfect Wedding magazine wondered whether the look could become a bridal trend.
Some, like journalist Rob Driscoll, questioned the relevance of Cheryl's presence -- 'So tell me. Why is Cheryl Cole having her pictures taken on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival? Again. #nothingtodowithfilmsatall' -- while others made fun of the costume's two-tone coloring with comparisons to the sort of femininie hygiene products that aren't part of the L'Oreal line.
